The pineapple martini is light, refreshing and delicious! I highly recommend their $14.95 menu. It comes with a choice of locate bisque of a salad, dinner and dessert. The lobster bisque is creamy, rich and extremely tasty! I wish I could finish the whole bowl, but it's always too much. The crispy coconut shrimp is really good as well. It's served with a side of island rice. I could almost eat the island rice as a meal it's so delicious! The sweet potato beignets are a must have! Words can't do them justice! Just trust me! Get them. You won't regret it. I look forward to more visits and trying more of their menu!

Modern, trendy interior that was very nice and clean. Service was outstanding - attentive, friendly, and timely. Waitress checked on us frequently without being intrusive. Food also was excellent. My ribeye was perfectly prepared, and had great flavor. Ordered it with the tempura lobster side - in a word amazing. Grilled grouper was also great. Overall a great dining experience.

Marlin Darlin is good, but for the price, it's great. We had a party of 8 last weekend and everything went well. Everyone was pleased with the apps and drinks and service. I got grilled grouper with arugula and tomatoes and grilled veggies. It looked beautiful an tasted great. Everyone else loved their meals too. The only complaint was the coconut shrimp was too dough-y. Uncooked batter around the shrimp wasn't very good. The prices can't be beat. Fresh seafood and well thought out dishes for less then $20 is a great deal in My eyes.

I have been dying to explore Marlin Darlin's menu for a long time, so on a busy Friday night, my wife, myself and two other couples, embarked on this dinning expedition. The parking was very cramped, but we did arrive during the peak dinning time. I think you can park in the parking lot adjacent to Marlin's, (by Bone Fish) where we saw several people doing. The inside was decorated in an dark, trendy decor where you would feel comfortable wearing casual-dress, or shorts. We were greeting by one of the many friendly staff members, who informed us that out table would be available shortly. We waited in the bar, while our table was being cleaned. I took the opportunity to explore the kitchen/hot food area, and was intrigued with the variety of great-looking food. Once we were sat, it was difficult to read the menu with the lack of lighting at our table, but we were able to pull out our phones to light up the the menus. The menu seemed to be different from what I read online here at Yelp!, which was disappointing since I sorta had an idea of what I wanted. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts. Our waitress seemed to be having problems, as many of our orders were wrong, late or never showed up. For appetizers, we ordered hush-puppies and French Onion Soup Dumplings. Our Hush-puppies were served to us burned, which is unacceptable from cook-to-server. The dumplings weren't anything to wright home about. For dinner, I ordered a 12oz. ribeye with lobster tempura and a side of the lobster bisque. The lobster bisque came out with the salads. It was very small, but very tasty that improved more and more with each spoon full. When my entree arrived, I was a tad disappointed because the steak was so thin (not 12oz by a long shot), and smothered in some sort of gravy. When I cut my first taste, I got a mouth full of fat. Not off to a good start. The lobster tempura was pretty impressive standing high on the plate, but it was mostly batter. When I did finally find some lobster, it was like eating a bit of heaven... so sweet and yummy. My wife ordered the filet-k-bob, but some other cut of meat was served. She liked the black beans and riced. Another friend ordered the filet, but received what looked like a flat iron steak. Another friend ordered the Blackened Grouper Oscar, and said it was the best grouper he has ever eaten. Another friend ordered the Fresh Catch K-bob with Mahi Mahi, and loved it. I had a taste of this, and it tasted delicious, but his lobster-mac was very dry. For dessert, I ordered the sweet potato beignets, and they were delicious.

This place cracks me up. The ambiance and decor is pretty nice and casual. You can dress well for this place or if you feel like wearing shorts and flip flops you can too. The food is good and you cannot beat the value that you get. Seafood is fresh, service is good... but the lingo and tones that waitstaff use towards patrons remind me of something you hear or see at Denney's or at a diner (!?) I hope you don't perceive this wrong, they are very friendly but not in an upper scale restaurant kind of way. Ok now that I got that off my chest. We need to talk about food. I really really like their Lobster Bisque - very lobster-e. My husband's Filet Mignon K-Bob is really good too... came with beans & rice. He didn't love the lobster mac that came with, I saw it and it looked dry. Also another one worth mentioning is Blackened Grouper cheeks. Texture is similar to chicken hearts. Not always on the menu though maybe they should put this up on the regular menu?

I am really excited about this place and am looking forward to returning. I had Hogfish that was cooked perfectly. I loved the sweet potato mash it came with and ordered a side kale caesar that was excellent. One of my friends who I would not call a green fan kept asking me to try it and was obsessed with it. He had the surf and turf and was not thrilled with it as the cut was thin and definitely not medium rare as he ordered. My other friend had the Cheeseburger in Paradise and while was not asked for preferred temperature, he still thought it was great. Our server was Doug. While there was ample adversity to overcome (new menus that were not in yet and did not reflect the actual food choices, beers on the draft menu that were not on premise, and a specials menu that was not provided by our hostess), he had a great personality and made it all work out. One of my friends would have given it fewer stars than I did but he can open his own yelp account. The other was equally as pleased as I was and I am very excited for my next visit. The most angst I am feeling about my return is how I can try new menu items when I was so pleased with what I ordered last night.

I visited this restaurant for a banquet. It was my first time dining at the restaurant. I must say after this experience I would definitely return. I will admit because I attended this restaurant for a private event, my experience may be a little skewed since the staff only had to focus on our one party. The menu was also pre-set with limited options for selection. Much to my surprise even though this is a seafood restaurant, 75% of the group ordered the steak option. We were not given a choice of temperature and it was cooked at a meduim. I was a little concerned about it being overcooked but it was just right. The steak was tender and moist within. I was impressed beccause it is usually hard for me to find a restaurant which can cook a steak just as I like it, perfectly medium. The steak was served with mashed potatoes which were very good. The downside to the meal was the bread which was served to our table burnt. We had to pick around in other baskets to get not so crispy pieces. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. As a result, I would be interested in coming back again for a regular service and try the seafood maybe this time.

Nice decor on the inside, but the food is just ok. We have been 3 times and never need to go back. The food combinations never hit their mark. Which is odd because Rumba which I think has the same owners always has fantastic food.

Service is not so great. Food is good. Gluten free menu is a list of what you can't eat. Wtf? Get your act together.

I had heard lots of good things about this place. Went here with my family for a birthday dinner celebration. I really really liked all of the options on the menu and the specials. They had a lot of specials and drink specials too. Can't beat that. They brought bread over upon arrival, I truly think we had maybe 6 baskets... between 4 people. I love bread. We all love bread. Let's all cheer for bread. I started with a blueberry mojito, which was good, but to be honest, not that great. I would not order again. Mother and brother got 2 for 1 sangrias. I tried those and enjoyed them. I think they also had 2 for 1 margaritas. The drink menu itself had a lot of good options on there and I will definitely be exploring those next time. We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms, which we really enjoyed. Delicious sauce with them, piping hot, would eat again. I got the coconut shrimp and crab cake entree which came with lobster bisque, and mashed potatoes. The bisque was okay, wasn't hot, and just not that great of flavor. Would go for a salad next time. The potatoes were great. The shrimp were huge and so so good with a very deck delicious ginger sauce. Sometimes I am weary of crab cakes, because so many places add a lot of filling instead or they are very small. This crab cake I truly think was one of the best I've ever had. It was a great size and full of scrum crab meat rather than a ton of spices and breading. And it came with a great sauce too. Loved every bite. My mum and brother both got the "Real Deal", which is a great thing to have on the menu. This meal is only $14.50 and comes with soup or salad and a small dessert at the end. There are maybe 10-14 meals to choose from on here. Both enjoyed their meals, my mum having the filet mignon kabob, which she liked a lot. It came with rice, beans, and lobster mac and cheese. She's a sucker for lobster mac. Was good, but not amazing. My brother got the mahi kabobs, which he liked but didn't love. The sides were good, it was good, he just didn't think the mahi was that great or flavorful. Desserts were small and yummy. Overall, super great place with excellent service, deals, prices, and food. A few things I would bypass next time but there will definitely be a next time.

They did well: Food was good around, the vegetable were actually fresh, not frozen mush killed with microwave and butter. Service was a bit off, slow to take order, did not offer apps, brought 1 plate out at a time... just kinda off.

Been here many times and had another great meal with a party of 5...surf and turf was off the chart...with multiple martinis I'm feeling good. The 12.5 meals are well worth it. If you haven't had hog snapper before it's a must try. This is a regular stop for me at least 3 times s month....see you there.

My husband and I visited for the first time last night and will be back before our week in the area ends! The surroundings and the service were great and the food was excellent! We couldn't get over how reasonable the food and drink prices were and the portions were just right. My husband had the shrimp and grits and I had the summer pasta dish on the Real Deal menu with a lobster sauce, shrimp and mussels. Yum! You have to try the lobster bisque! The best I've ever tasted!

Had their hogfish last night. It came with mashed sweet potatoes and a mango type chutney. Yummmmm. The best!!! Our friends had the sea bass medallions and said it was excellent also Great food here!!

Very very slow service. It took about 30 minutes just to get our salads then once we finished those another 30 for our entrees. I had to ask for our entrees because when I went to the restroom I saw them sitting in the kitchen area ready to be picked up by our waitress. I had the fried hogfish tacos which were kinda bland. They were missing something. My husband has the ribeye and he loved it. We had another couple with is and they loved their food as well. One of them had the seafood pasta and the other had the crab cakes. If the service wasn't so slow def 5 stars.

Great food at an amazingly reasonable price for the atmosphere. When we first walked in I figured it'd be well over $100 for my family of 3... But was shocked at the variety and the prices. They did have some higher end items but we didn't go crazy. The wait staff was on point and very attentive.

This place has a great bar and the bartenders are always attentive. We usually come here after a business trip when our flight lands after 6 and have dinner at the bar. We love the tuna sashimi because the fish is high quality. The stuffed mushrooms are served escargot style. The caprese salad is thick slabs of ripe tomato with mozzarella and basil. My only complaint is that the accompaniments tend to be sweeter than necessary. Someone needs to tell chef to ease up on adding sugar to wakame salad, pickled ginger, balsamic glaze, and even the drizzle on lettuce wraps, which is the only reason we don't order them. But overall, excellent quality of food and nice service.

  • Rachel K.

I love this place! The ambience is awesome, totally feel like I'm in the transom of a sportfishing boat, so much fun. And the food is delicious!! Absolute favorite: crab-stuffed mushrooms. The best!! Haven't tried anything here I didn't like, I love it. Four stars instead of five just because it's pricier than I prefer, but it's not ludicrous -- we end up spending about $25+ a person when we go just on food, without drinks.

Great place that really takes care of their Clientele and their community. Best Surf and Turf I've ever had hands down! Highly recommend this to anyone in the area really looking for authentic food for the area. Will absolutely make this a must the next time I'm in the area!

I hesitated to write this review. I hope our experience was an aberration. My daughter and I decided to go to Marlin Darlin because we had visited its sister restaurants in the Tampa Bay Area and always had a good experience. We did not have a reservation - so we're prepared for a long wait. No problem. The system they use - They take your cell # - as your turn comes up they text the #. We sat on an outside patio and waited our call. Checked a couple of times on our progress. After 70 minutes, it came. We made our way inside to the hostess desk. When we presented ourselves, the hosted informed us we had already been seated. We showed her the text. We have to assume another customer answered our call and their phone was not checked. The hostess told us to wait by the stand and we would be seated. While we waited an older blond woman came chatted up and kissed the hostesses. Eventually we were escorted to the back of the restaurant. As we reached that part of the room, the blond woman and a companion were slipping into a booth. The poor little hostess approached them. After a short conversation, she returned to us to tell us she would have to speak to the manager. We asked where we should go - since we were obviously standing in a traffic pattern. Back to the hostess station - where we overheard that manager had told then the blond lady was a regular. I guess if you are a regular - truly bad behavior is forgiven.. Finally after about one hour and fifty minutes and a lot of humiliation, we were seated. That being said - we enjoyed the meal. We had an efficient, pleasant server. I think his name was Mike. Doubtful we will ever return. Too bad Sorry so long - but it was long

Our server was a very good server, but from the time we ordered to the time we received our food took way too long. The food was excellent! Everyone at my table loved their dishes, but portions were a bit on the small side. I ordered the 3 taco platter and they came as three 4" soft corn tortilla tacos with black beans and rice on the side. The tacos were excellent, but I wished I had 6 more because they were so small. We would have ordered dessert, but we were afraid that it would take too long because we had already been there for almost 2 hours, so we skipped dessert.

Amazing food! Great service! We had a french onion soup dumpling appetizer that was out of this world. Reasonably priced for the quality of service and food. Outdoor eating was wonderful. My boyfriend had the panko grouper and I had shrimp that was the best I've ever had. Great waiter, great experience!

Great restaurant. it was hopping on Thursday night. It is nicely appointed inside, the staff was very attentive. The Lobster bisque was outstanding. I had the sea bass with panko breading. it was cooked perfectly but I found the bottom a bit oily. Overall very good. I will go back.

This place would have received 5 stars, but lost one due to not being a very inviting place. I came in with my husband and 3 of my kids. We were running errands on a Saturday afternoon. We were dressed, well, really BLAH. Jeans and T-shirt. My hair was blah, my kids looked blah. We didn't really plan to come here, but we were in the area and it had great reviews. We were asked for a reservation when we came in, but the tables were pretty empty, then we were asked to wait for a table? Once seated, the server initially was stand offish, but later warmed up after he was able to look past our appearance. The location will throw you off. The restaurant is far too posh for this neighborhood in largo. FOOD: Well, well, well...Mmmm. Where do I begin. The restaurant is tastefully decorated in a contemporary, clean, nautical theme. Not tacky, but you can tell it's a sea food restaurant. The food is delicately served in modern fashion, bordering tapas style. All meals are served with a bread basket, soup or salad. We tried the grouper bites appetizer (don't remember the name). As far as the pre entree soup, ditch the salad...The lobster bisque is to die for! I personally feel it needed lobster chunks to be heavenly, but overall, the flavor was rich and smooth. My husband ordered a salmon entree, I ordered the surf and turf grits. (flank steak drizzled with chimichurri sauce , paired with Gouda grits and shrimp, topped with a tomato/sofrito based garnish.) My kids enjoyed their meals as well. They had a drink special, #2 for 1 ( #BOGO drinks) #Happy hour. Overall, I would return here again, I just don't want to feel awkward if I am dressed down, so I guess I will make a point to get a bit more dressy.

The food and atmosphere is great. I shared the yellow fin tuna and the captains plate with my sister and everything was perfect. Our waiter was also very friendly. However make sure you aren't in a rush or have anywhere to be because the service is pretty slow when they're busy. There are also a ton of fresh specials so be sure to get there early before they all run out! All-in-all It's a great seafood restaurant to go out with family for a long satisfying dinner.

Time to re-do the review; Since I was unable to contact the BBB or call the owner (not listed with BBB, and hostesses had no idea who owner was and had no business card to give me), I never did file the complaint and could not contact the owner. Just as well, as someone from our group did manage to contact *someone* in charge and we were offered a "do-over".... The restaurant more than made up for the previous bad experience. I think, however, that they were really anxious to satisfy us and I feel that we may not get the same fantastic treatment next time, because there's no more incentive for the restaurant to "prove themselves". However, with all that being said, I think this time we were given exemplary service and the 'real' manager was even there to oversee everything. We had a sufficient number of servers this time, and there were only a few slowdowns in service. Our waitress, Miranda, was exemplary in my honest opinion. She was attentive, prompt, courteous, and efficient. The other servers, from what I could tell, were also doing a good job. The food came out hot this time, and we weren't forced to wait over 4 hours like last time before we could leave. Of course, the service was faster because there was no check this time. Overall, kudos to the restaurant for trying to make it right, and succeeding for the most part. Thank you! We will be back!

A nice restaurant in the Bellair Bluffs area. They do a nice job with seafood. We like to sit at the bar when we stop in and chat with the folks there. A fun place to visit. They specialize in seafood of course, and that is what we always get.

I love Marlin Darlin! I have been going there several times a year, sometimes several times a month, since 2010, and I have never been disappointed in my food selections. Their signature martins are wonderful and I highly recommend them. I usually have a Reel Deal dinner, which includes a dessert. The beignets are great, but I adore the apple crisp a la mode style. It's to die for. I also love their Lobster Mac. It's one of the best I've ever had. I have only had extremely positive experiences here and recommend the mahi, snapper or scallops. Many of the other choices such as hogfish and pasta dishes are also delicious . The restaurant has a lively, bustling atmosphere, so if you are hard of hearing, request a booth along the far wall.

I go here for 2 reasons: the Key West Salmon, which is so wonderfully spicy, cooked to perfection, and enough for 2 meals, and the early bird special, which is amazing -- for somewhere between $10-12 (depending on the day) you get salad, entree and dessert. I don't usually order dessert at restaurants because it's more than I need, but this one is just the right size because it's small and yummy (apple tart and ice-cream.)

This place is absolutely incredible. I was there two weeks ago and have been thinking of my amazing dinner all day. Besides being in an absolutely beautiful setting in Clearwater, the entire restaurant has a impeccable styling. Describing my food couldn't even do it justice. The appetizers were great. From the firecracker shrimp, pizzas, salads, and calamari I couldn't get enough. For the entree itself the fish just melted in your mouth and was perfectly seasoned. The steak kabob had to be some of the best steak I have every had! Frank Chivas, the owner, also came out and talked to us throughout the meal. Frank is a great guy with a lot of passion for what he does. I am honestly thinking of how I'll make it back to Clearwater just so I can have dinner at the Marlin Darlin again. Frank, if you happen to read this could you overnight some of that delicious food to me?

The dinners I have had here are hit or miss. Mostly miss. However, the last few times I went with friends and we sat at the high top tables by the bar and just ordered apps and they were awesome. The fish tacos and flatbreads are great!

We ate here last night and everything was great! Very nice, and fun setting! The lobster bisque came out with a smiley face:) the sea bass was really good and I heard the shrimp scampi was amazing! I would def come back and recommend this place.

Almost a three star. Not impressed! Oysters on the half meaty, presentation needs upgraded for price. Martini was perfect which is rare during the spring break crowd. Gumbo is what reduced the star to two, too much beef added, too thick and didn't taste that great. I was here once before and I thought I'd try again. The only thing that was great was the martini. Service was OK, nothing to write home about.

Came here with a number of colleagues. Located near a busy intersection in Largo. The first thing I noticed was the parking is absolutely abhorrent. Very small lot in the front and a few more spots in the back. I had to park elsewhere and walk over. Anyway, the place is about half bar and half restaurant. The bar runs lengthwise down the left and there is a dining area on the right with a separate dining room that can be sectioned off. The bartender was fairly efficient and got my drinks quickly. The wait staff was friendly and had the room sectioned off for our large group by the time we arrived. We had some appetizers. The fries were ok. The service was very good. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Perhaps a tiny bit pushy with the specials, but very nice about it. I had the red snapper special. It was decently flavored but overcooked. The fish was pretty dry. The vegetables were nice though. For $18, it was disappointing. They have a full bar and a good liquor selection, but a lackluster beer menu.

  • Ben N.

The food is pricey, and mostly surf and turf oriented. There is, also, an atmosphere of high end dining. Water is served in a unique way; two glasses are served with the water in a clear wine bottle as a decanter. We only ate appetizers and had a flatbread pizza, which wasn't bad. The truffle and Parmesan fries were great, if a little less on the healthy side. To top that we had potato chips (possibly house fried) that were drizzled with a creamy sauce, that I can't remember the name of, which were pretty good, too. The pizza had fresh basil and good cheese, but was only decent. The wait staff were great, the server fairly attentive on what seemed a busy night. The manager introduced herself to us and advised us to let her know what we might need. There was a moment or two of waiting for an extended period, but again; busy night.

For the first time in my life I did not tip the waitstaff. My husband and I both ordered the halibut. He ordered his blackened and I ordered mine with panko crust. We each ordered a ceasar salad and ordered hushpuppies as an appetizer. Our main course came out first and my husband's was wrong. No mashed potatoes on his plate and the fish was not blackened. As soon as our main course came out, out salads were then brought out. Still no appetizers! My husband sent his back to be prepared the way he ordered it. Finally got our appetizer. I finished my meal. My husband still had not received his. Finally caught up with the waitress and cancelled his dinner. $32 for one of the worst experiences we have had in a restaurant

Wow. Great overall dining experience. The firecracker shrimp should be named dynamite, because its just that. The salad was fresh and lite, a great starter. For our entree my girlfriend and I got steak and fish skewers. The steak was extremely tender and the fish was seasoned exactly right. The side of Mac n cheese had great flavor and made me want more. For dessert we each got the apple cobbler and vanilla bean ice cream. Perfect portions to finish off a fantastic meal. Aside from food the wait staff was great and we even chatted with the owner a bit. He had a real great sense of humor and it was evident he truly cares about his patrons dining experience. Definitely recommend for date night!

The food was average but well priced. The $13.50 special was a good amount of food but it was nothing special. The lobster bisque was lukewarm with no lobster pieces in it; the lobster mac&cheese was like Kraft M&C: and the steak kabob was uninspiring and chewy. The drink prices were great and we enjoyed the vibe here.

Very good lobster and crabmeat! The decor is interesting and fun, it has a very mariner style. i had a good time visually and so did my taste buds. There is an assortment of food style on the menu. They have sandwiches, seafood, steak etc... The appetizers are also delicious!

showed with out a reservation on a busy Saturday night, secured a table in the bar area. Danielle our server was spectacular and handled the entire evening perfectly.....even our discussion of Fight Club as an underrated black comedy. Food was impressive, maybe the best filet I've ever had, and everything about the evening was top notch. Marlin Darlin has an amazing bar.......and yes food and service to equal. You may not be able to find lobster selections cheaper anywhere.

Excellent food and atmosphere and very reasonable. Operated by same group that runs Salt Rock, Island Way, Rumba. They know how to offer high quality food, great atmosphere, super service and do it fir a more than fair price. It's in same strip as E and E and Bonefish but they are usually more crowded and more expensive.

I really enjoyed my visit here, what a great place to hang out. After a lengthy visit at my families house for XMas i decided to get out of the house and have a few cocktails and apps. Offshore fishing themed upscale decor with a local feel and atmosphere. The place was exceptionally tidy and clean and the staff was very accommodating. I did have the Lobster Bisque which was ok and I have learned over the years to not order anywhere because it never seams to be up to my standards. Who doesn't feel that way, I want more meat!!! Definitely will be back here again

DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY...DISAPPOINTING! My fiancé and I decided to give Marlin Darlin a try for the first time on a very busy Saturday evening. Crowded with tourists and large loud parties. We sat down and was greeted by our waiter who brought us a wine bottle full of warm, still, tap water in which we poured into what looked like a big shot glass. Terrible tasting water might I add! He ordered the ribeye with a accompanying Caesar salad. The salad dressing claimed to be a citrus Caesar dressing but it lacked any kind of taste. Ribeye was good! I ordered one of the specials of the evening, the Southern Most Point, a fillet of grouper served with fried green tomatoes and crab meat. It arrived smelling delicious! The tomatoes, 3 total, were served on top of what I thought was the fillet of grouper but to my surprise all I could find was two very small chunks of fish and a dusting of crab meat. At that moment our waiter stopped and asked if everything was okay. I immediately brought to his attention the missing fillet and pointed out the two small chucks. He apologized quickly and offered a desert of choice on the house. At $24.90 how dare they send the dish out of the kitchen and think the customer isn't going to notice. Piling a stack of fried green tomatoes to cover up that they either ran out of grouper, or are just looking to save a buck by not serving the appropriate portions. HORRIBLE!

Blue crab stuffed mushrooms, fantastic! Lobster bisque, meh. Not enough lobster, and a little too much cream. Crab stuffed grouper - Awesome!! Fire grilled stuffed lobster tails - Awesome as well. Lobster Mac & cheese? Might have been good but came served in a thimble. (A condiment bowl) It was good... Key Lime pie was good too, but not quite authentic. (Too sweet, it should be tart) should be a pastry crust, not graham cracker. Drinks were very good and happy hour made me very happy. The meal came with authentic pressed Cuban bread - I was surprised they don't offer fish fried?!? Anywhooo atmosphere was good. Service was great! Drinks came FAST! Parking was very limited. Had to park at a bank next door. I would recommend Marlin Darlin if your looking for a reasonably priced seafood and drink menu, with an upscale taste and feel. Overall this was a great experience.

It's one of our go-to local restaurants. Great food. Great prices. Nice ambiance. Lots of healthy choices. Nice drink choices. Nice place to take out of town visitors or for a romantic evening out. What really stands out is the value. I would give it 4 stars for the food alone, but when you factor in the ambiance and cheap prices, this really can't be beat.

Delicious meal. We shared the awesome rock shrimp tempura (note that there are walnuts in it that aren't mentioned on the menu). I had the scallops special, which was delicious, and my friends had the king salmon and the grouper, both of which were fantastic. The service was fine, and the ambience is nice if a bit dark. Really enjoyed this!

Wanted to order take out from the patio. Instead the server very curtly told me they would help me at the hostess stand. So I have to stand around while my food is being prepared instead of relaxing and having a drink?? Poor form.

Food great. Service awful. Waitress forgot to get our dinner order and when it did arrive for our party of 7, 5 entrees arrived. When she stopped by to ask if she could get anything else, we said food! Extremely busy and understaffed. She forgot to put in a drink order and the martinis arrived after the plates were taken away. If you can put up with chain restaurant service then you'll be fine.

Immediately seated, wait staff was wonderful and the food was good. I would have preferred a larger portion for the price, but the quality of the food, presentation and flavor were outstanding. My wife is a vegan and was thrilled with the healthy choices.... She rates it a 5, I'm a 4 so overall we give it a 4.5.

Good. I had the black n bleu burger. Our waitress was also good. Ambience good. Hostess first attempted to place us in booth next to door. It sound like a group of people talking in a barrel. One problem...professionalism of staff. The manager seemed more interested entertaining friends or former waitresses. The two young girls he kept returning to were popular with staff. Especially Mike the waiter. I'm glad we didn't get stuck with him. He hung out with the girls and avoided work. Or it seemed that way.

Hard to believe all the four and five star reviews. It's a nice, attractive and comfortable place with good service but the food was pretty weak. We started with the calamari, which was straight up frozen, served with a spoon of tartar sauce and not very hot. Loser dish. I inquired about the french onion soup dumplings and the server (who was great, don't remember her name though) swooned over it. I thought it was just weird. It was like french onion soup without the soup, if that makes an sense? I was warned that it would come out extremely hot but once again, it wasn't. Not cold just not very hot. He tried to order a shrimp dinner but not grilled or fried, just cold like cocktail style, it wasn't on the menu but the server checked anyway and was told no. After seeing several plates with shrimp on them pass by our table, I could see why. The shrimp are all of the pre-fab frozen variety. He chose a lobster tail special that was not special at all. Kinda dry and served with mashed potatoes that were so gluey, instant would have been better. Seriously. I ordered the shrimp and chorizo flat bread that was described as being topped with lemon dressed spinach. There were 3 tiny shrimp on the whole thing and the chorizo was only piled in the very middle (?) not much cheese and the spinach was more like a garnish than a topping. I only ate one piece and took the rest home. Oddly enough, I ate a couple of pieces later when it was cold and it was VERY good. Go figure! I will say the house salad and the lobster bisque were both very tasty. The bisque was devoid of any lobster what so ever, but that seems to be the norm around here. Still tasty tho... I'd try again, but the first go around left me unimpressed.

Never a bad time at the marlin !!!! This is for sure out go to restaurant cause you can never go wrong ! The kale Caesar was a genius addition to the menu !!! Good drink selection, we always sit at the bar and I'm fairly certain we've never had to wait ! In the summertime sitting outside is also awesome!!

I'm with almost everyone else here. Good food for a decent price is all I need at a restaurant, and Marlin Darlin does this very well. The menu has a section of 3 course meals for $13.50 which is a steal. We got a salad, Caribbean Grilled Chicken, and a desert. Our server (Caleb) was awesome and had everything split by the time it got to us. The food was fantastic, especially the sweet potato mash that came with the chicken. Dinner with drinks was less than $30 total. I don't often wander into Belleair, but this place is worth the trip.

The seafood entrées were okay but our evening was totally ruined by a miserable hostess. Our group of six arrived with a reservation at the appropriate time. We were told that they had absolutely no record of our reservation. We later learned that a computer crash had botched all reservations. Finally, after every other group had been seated, and we had waited over an hour, we were seated in a half empty restaurant. We could only surmise this treatment occurred because one of our party was clearly disabled. No apologies. No complimentary dessert. I would never return.

Im confused why this place is always so packed. They dont season their food too well, and the stuff that is seasoned taste like the sauce came straight from a jar. Nice atmosphere though and right across the bridge from my house.

We dined here for the first time the other night, and our table was definitely pleased! I had to meet up with my dining buddies a bit late, but was informed when I sat down that they had ordered a mushroom flatbread to eat as they waited...and they promptly ate every single bite. As for our dinners, I was really happy with the selections made around the table. Marlin Darlin has a section of their menu that allows you to order an entree off the list; it comes with a side salad or soup, and a small indulgence dessert....for $12.50. I mean, can you beat that price?!?! My dining buddies ordered the coconut shrimp and the fresh catch kabob. Both were very generous portions...as was my chicken piccata. I normally don't order chicken piccata, but was urged to by our server, who told me it was great. She was right...and the portion was large enough that I took half of my meal home. As for the desserts - we ordered the sweet potato beignets, the rum cake, and the apple crumble. All three were served with a dollop of whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My favorite was the beignets, but the rum cake was also a fan favorite. As for the service, our server was very nice, but the food did come out a little slow the night we were in. It wasn't a huge problem, since we weren't in a hurry, but that would have taken the experience up one more notch. We will definitely be back for more!

Yes please! I had heard about this place from some relatives and I am so glad we tried it but sad that we were only able to eat there once. Ahi tuna was delicious. Grouper bites were awesome. 2 for 1 mojitos, oh yeah! I have the grilled shrimp and tempura shrimp and it was the best I have had in a long time. Will definitely head back. Had a nice server, even though she was a Michigan fan. ;O)

I had high hopes for Marlin Darlin, so my wife and I decided to give them a try. We went in at 9pm on a Saturday night. It wasn't very busy, as most of the early crowd had probably cleared out. The atmosphere was pretty nice and looked well managed. It took 15 minutes to be waited on after being seated, and another 10-15 minutes to get a drink. I ordered the Hog fish dish, with a citrus Caesar salad, and a side of coconut shrimp. My wife got the grouper dish with a side of lobster bisque. Our salads came out 9:45, 45 minutes from being seated. A Caesar salad is made with Romain, not iceberg. It came with 2 small croutons, and what appeared to be very little dressing. Upon tasting, the only taste that could be found was that of watery iceberg leaves. The little amount of dressing was very watery and lacked any taste. I sent that salad back and they brought me a new salad. This one had 4 croutons, but the same watery no taste dressing. There certainly was no citrus in either of them. I sent that back and got the lobster bisque, which was very good. For crying out loud, throw a handful of croutons on the salad and make a nice rich Caesar dressing with a little spiced up taste as it should be. Some fresh Parmesan wouldn't hurt either. Our main dish came out about 15 minutes later. The food was of good portions and had a good flavor. About 2/3rds through my meal my wife asked me why the shrimp didn't come yet. I had actually forgotten about it, as my disappointment was still on the salad. The waitress forgot, or the kitchen did, which one I don't know, and the waitress just said sorry and asked if i wanted her to bring me the shrimp. I declined at that time. Summary: Very slow service with less than 10 people eating in the seating areas. Forgot part of my meal. Very bad salad. Most importantly, I wasn't offered any discount for my troubles, or a free desert, etc. My wife and I are looking for a good medium priced restaurant to visit a few times per month, and had they just offered something for my less than satisfactory experience, then they may have gotten my $75 worth of business a few times per month. To be honest, I had better service and food (salmon dish) at the Longhorn on westshore last Friday.

Great food and excellent service. Ordered the surf and turf special. The filet melted in my mouth and the fresh catch was delicious. Frank, the owner, was very welcoming, and really made us feel special. Can't recommend it enough.

This was the best surf and turf I've ever had. Easily 4 stars on the food alone, but then the great service and personal attention on top of a great atmosphere gives this restaurant a must any time you're in Clearwater!

As a local it's one of our favorite spots! Great date night. Drink specials are the best around and you can't beat the "Reel Deal" for yummy dinner specials that include soup or salad, a dinner & dessert. Fun to eat at the bar too if you can't get a table!

Frank Chivas is the Don of restaurants out in Pinellas. They guy knows what he's doing. If you've been to Rumba, Island Way Grill, or Salt Rock Grill...you already know he rocks. The $12.5 Real Deal is one of the best values in town - maybe the country. The quality of the bread, food, salad, etc.. is top notch. They don't cut corners here. The "Reel Deal" is just enough food to not feel stuff, but feel satisfied. The service I received here was outstanding. The one thing that kept them getting 5 stars was the annoying fact that they have "still" water on the tables. If someone wants to have ice...in their water, they shouldn't have to feel like they have to ask for it like a dork. I got water but obviously if you ordered a drink - you'd get ice. Not a huge deal, but even if I order a drink, I want ice in my water. I had the catch of the day (Mahi Mahi) Panko-crusted. It was good, but I wished that I got it blackened to be honest. Oh well...another excuse to visit Marlin Darlin. I think next time I'll get Fish Tacos...those just sound too good to miss. ________________________________________________________ Here's more info on the $12.5 REAL DEAL! For just $12.5, these entrées include hot pressed cuban bread, choice of salad or lobster bisque, tea, coffee or soft drink, and your favorite mini-indulgent dessert: Hot Apple Crisp * Sweet Potatos Beignets * Island Rum Cake -Crab, Shrimp & Mussels lobster cream sauce, penne pasta -Fresh Catch K-bob grilled, over island rice. black beans with garlic herb butter and lobster mac -Onion Crusted Salmon with red skin mashed -Salmon Key West Style sautéed in ginger, garlic, onion, red & yellow peppers, tomatoes, thai curry sauce, island rice -Shrimp Scampi tomatoes, basil, garlic butter, linguine -Fish and Chips fried fresh catch, kettle chips, jimaca slaw -Filet Mignon K-bob island rice, black beans, chimichurri sauce & lobster mac -Chicken Piccata lemon caper butter, blistered tomatoes, linguine -Caribbean Grilled Chicken sweet potato mash, collard greens -Crispy Coconut Shrimp orange ginger sauce, island rice -Cuban Pork Havana mojo Criollo, island rice, black beans -Jumbo Lump Crab Cake ginger-garlic dipping sauce, island rice and black beans, pico de gallo

We went with a party of 12 including 6 kids. Yes we made a reservation and you should too because the place is packed. The boss and I went ahead of the rest of the group to have a cocktail before dinner at the bar. We ordered two Stoly's up with olives. (Our usual). First they ask if we want a regular olive or a blue cheese olive. Really? Olive choices. Who would a thunk it! We get our drinks and the bartender say that's $10.70. I'm like "What did you say? Did you mean each?" She says nope drinks are always two for one. Yes that means everything in the bar! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! Now the food! Remember there are 12 of us! We order appetizers. We get Calamari, 18 oysters, a pizza, french onion soup dumplings (get these), mussels too & some kind of shrimp salad. Everything comes at the same time and hot or cold as appropriate. Very good stuff. They have a $12.5 menu. available all the time. You get lobster bisque or salad, entree and mini dessert. Some of us did not do this. Either way you can't beat it! Fresh Black Grouper, ,filet mignon, you name it. I went off the map and asked for the black grouper with the gumbo on top. Not a problem. I never drink this but I went with the sangria for dinner, It was very good. For dessert I tried the sweet potato biegnet's . The entire bill with a 20% tip was $300 for 12 people! Get it while you can.

We loved our visit to Darlin Marlin!!! They have $3 drinks and $1.50 drafts at the bar. They have a "real deal" with salad, entree, and dessert for $12.50. The yellow fin tuna was amazing and was priced at $17.50. It is served sesame crusted with the teriyaki glaze and it is super. The vegetables come speared on a shish kabob stick. The seafood pasta in a lobster cream sauce was on the real deal menu and it was delicious. The crab in the pasta was real crab not the imitation stuff from a can. The mussels were fresh and tender. The dessert which came with the 12.50 real deal was small but the perfect size after a large meal. The great prices in on drinks and the $12.50 real deal will make us come back very soon. The restaurant is very clean. The bathrooms are very clean. The service is super quick. Overall a great experience. We went in December and it was not crowded, but have been before and would recommend a reservation.

Was expecting more since word of mouth seemed to hype it up. Tried the Lobster bisque which I thought was just okay. The seafood flavor was not as strong and tasted like a lot of cream. A homestead salad was nothing special. The stuffed grouper with blue crab was okay too. It came with a lemon caper butter sauce and I subbed for the island rice, which didn't have much flavor.

The soup was great, however the stone crab special really lacked flavor. Guess should have listened to old adage" don't order the special because it is usually old or poor quality food." Restaraunt is normally a great place to eat.

Fine Food and Even Better Service Marlin Darlin' has been, for several years now, a restaurant you could count on. Unfortunately, a few months back I hosted a group there on what must have just been an off night. As a business owner I always appreciate honest feedback from my customers. So I sent an email to the restaurant and was very impressed to have the manager call, take serious interest in my concerns, and encourage me to return. I returned yesterday with another group, counting on the place living up to its reputation. And it was better than ever. Service was organized and attentive. We never had to ask for a refill of anything. The pacing of service was just right so that the drinks and food could be properly enjoyed. The drink and wine list is very good and reasonably priced. The two-for-one mojitos were great. The only thing I didn't care for was the margarita which tasted like a mix. The food was impressive. The firecracker shrimp appetizer was a winner. The lobster bisque is some of the best. Many in our group got the special Hogfish entrée and it was great. The apple crisp dessert was absolutely delicious. Everyone in our group was very happy with Marlin Darlin' and we all had a great evening. I would be happy to return any time.

While vacationing in Clearwater we decided to take a little adventure and stumbled upon this gem. This place was AMAZING!! The French Onion Soup dumplings were so unique and delicious. The wings were also really good. The Fresh Grouper was not too fishy and was very very fresh. Nice alternative to pushing through city traffic... just head the opposite direction, there is plenty of room in the parking lot and restaurant seating. The mason jar drinks with fresh ingredients... basil, strawberry, blueberries, etc... definitely a must try. Neat atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable and the staff didn't rush us out of the restaurant even though it was fairly busy.

Great food preparation and presentation. Service was excellent. We had the red snapper (fried) and the hog fish pan seared in Panko breadcrumbs. Both were very good with black beans, island rice and grilled veggies. Salads were served with a tasty key lime vinegarette dressing. Never disappointed!

SUMMARY: Fantastic seafood, fun atmosphere, great service, modest portions, great value! 4.5 stars I was pleasantly surprised after my experiences at other restaurants owned by the same group. They finally got (just about) everything right in the execution of Marlin Darlin! HITS - Surf n' turf K-bob lobster (if you're not a tempura fan, you can request the tail broiled) - Blackened grouper - Great drink specials - Great service; no nonsense - Key lime meringue; I will have dreams about this dessert - Fun, open decor; a few televisions (a pet peeve of mine) but not enough to be distracting - The portions were right-sized; they weren't as obnoxiously large as you would get at lower-quality places; you won't leave hungry, but you won't feel like a slob either MISSES - Lobster Mac n cheese: I had high hopes; it was good, just not as creamy as it was in my imagination - Lobster bisque- too sweet, no lobster - Homestead Salad: was missing the toasted pumpkin seeds! And it was kinda boring - Buttered bread: weird, but great if you looove butter

The place is so pretty to start with! The bread is delious! And the prices are insanely reasonable! The meals come with a choice of house salad, Caesar salad or lobster bisque I highly suggest the house salad it's so good and huge! By the time my dinner rolled around I ate 2 bites! And the crab cakes are so good as well not just a Lump of greesy breadcrumbs just great fresh crab!! And the pizza we got out daughter yum!!!!!! One thing was better then the next! A true hidden gem

Food was great but the dishware they use for orderoves or dessert was worthy of the trash bin. Chef Ramsey would have personally gathered it all up and smashed it in the parking lot. Why? It tips and upsets whatever you are trying to remove from the dish. Unstable . So get it replaced ! Service was spot on. Noise level too much. Fix it.

This was the best meal I've ever eaten. Everything was impeccably seasoned and the flavors blended together perfectly. The steak melted in my mouth and even the mac n cheese was delicious. The staff was kind and the service was phenomenal, refilling drinks as soon as they were empty. They were always polite and never pushy, and the owner stopped by and was incredibly friendly. This is the type of place where I would hold my wedding reception, absolutely amazing.

This place was great, the seating was fast, the server was quick and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was really nice. If you get a chance try out their Grouper Bites, they are very good. The Jerked Chicken Tacos were....OK. wouldn't recommend if your actually hungry. The Lobster Bisque was delicious though. I would recommend the $12.95 menu, specifically the Shrimp, Mussel, Crab in lobster sauce over Penne pasta was awesome. It also came with a mini dessert, I ordered the Rum cake, which was superb. Overall, I will be returning.

OMG I can't believe I've lived in the close area of this Fine Restaurant...there was five of us having dinner after Me and My Wife were Married. We started off with really good Drinks, I had the Wodka Martini Dirty(wodka is the brand of vodka I believe) and it went real well with the Blue Point Oyster App my Mother-In-Law and I shared which were salty and awesome and incredibly Fresh and tasty. When our Server brought our Main Dishes he commented about how he heard we had some huge Oysters placde in with the regular sized ones and said that was very rare to have. Either way the were fresh and that's all I can ask for. Now my main dish was the Filet Mignon Skewers that I believe to be at least 9oz and that melted in my mouth along side Coconut Rice and Black Beans. My Wife had the Tempura Shrimp that had 12 Huge Shrimp and I of course had two. My Mom had what I think they call it the Caribbean Salmon which you know what I'm gonna say, Huge and Spicie. She wasn't expecting that but she loved it. Mother-in-law had a Flatebread with Goat Cheese and all kinds of nice stuff and was the size of a Pizza. Father-in-law had what I had. The Staff was very friendly and nice, our Waiter was very knowledgeable of the Menu. Oh and inside is very modern and clean, I heard good things about the Ladies Room. Lol. The only letdown and negative thing I can say about Marlin Darlin is that I didn't come here and eat sooner. I believe I dont have to drive out of my way anymore anywhere else to get an outstanding Diner out. I would like to add that I made reservations because everytime I drive by to go to a "Dive Joint", Marlin Darlin's parking lot is full so I knew better.

Great food, great prices, one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants! And I LOVE the wodkatinis- Usual Suspect is a dirty with blue cheese stuffed olives- for $5! For food, recommend the real deal where you pay $12.50 and get cuban bread, soup or salad (recommend lobster bisque), a small dinner (all the seafood options are fresh and delicious), and a dessert (rum cake to die for)! Their appetizers and flat breads are good as well. As you can see, I am a regular!

Went last night since we were going to the Cultural Center in Largo for a show. We chose from the $12.95 selections, and everything was DELICIOUS and beautifully prepared. Where else can you get a wonderful 3 course meal in a beautiful atmospher for that price? I can't wait to go back!!! Its a drive for me, but certainly worth it!

Very good! After a week of terrible food in Florida this place produced. They are busy and very commercial but at least it was good. Nice drinks, good draft beer and the service was good. Best food i had after a week in Florida, but really that isn't too much of a challenge.

  • Casey C.

Decent place. I can't give it the 4-5 star high ratings. Had the filet kabob (the full menu priced one, not the $12.50 deal) with crab stuffed tail, lobster bisque and added lobster mac side. The filet meat was actually hard to cut. It wasn't hard to chew or rubbery, but certainly not melt in your mouth juicy tender as I expect a filet to be. The kabob had 4 chunks of meat, 3 of zucchini, 1 green pepper and 2 chunks of red onion. Lobster mac had way too much breading on top. Really took over the small ramekin it is served in. Bisque was good, tail was good. Actually it's a half tail. That is NOT specified on the menu. The price difference between the $12.50 special filet kabob that INCLUDES lobster mac, is certainly not justified to the $22.90 my plate was plus the additional $2.50 for my side of lobster mac. That equates to $13 bucks for the half tail. Other information you need to know that is NOT POSTED ON THE MENU: 1. "All day 2-for-1" is a joke. When asked if I wanted the 2 drinks or just one "tall" I got the one tall. It's a "tall" glass that's quite skinny and loaded with ice. It's really just one drink now matter how you want to word it. The $5 martinis are served in a normal martini glass and had more liquid in them than my "double". 2. I find this one hard to believe, but the bill showed up and had our draft beers charged at $2.50 each. Menu says in large bold letters "$1.5 Mugs O' Beer". The pricing on the top right corner reflects this also and applies to Bud, Bud Light and Miller Lite. Asked waiter about it and he said the $1.50 are 6 ounce beers. ***THERE IS NO MENTION ANYWHERE ON THE MENU ABOUT ANY DRAFT BEER BEING OFFERED IN DIFFERENT SIZES. If this were true, server should ask what size you you want! Really, all in all, if you do the $12.50 deal, and two people split an app., the price is right in line if not better than normal. The beer price, although misleading, is still lower than most other restaurants. Makes this place a decent deal but this is no fine dining. Stick with the $12.50 deal and you get a meal that's well worth the price tag. Maybe my rating would have been higher if I had done so. Side note, servers did forget to bring my side order and my wife's.

We take my family here every Saturday and we all really enjoy it. The best part is the prices and the staff. I don't know how they get such great servers. The management team is doing everything right when it comes to staff, prices, atmosphere, and food! There are very few places you can get soup or salad, an entree and desert for only $12.50 and be dining in a very upscale looking restaurant. The buzz around the bar is fun and I enjoy the $5 martini list.

This is by far the most impressive restaurant in the beaches area. Not only is the food superb but it is a screaming deal. My husband and I asked the waiter if the $12.50 deal was a small plate. It's not! It's 3 courses and its awesome! I also love the mushroom goat cheese flat bread. I am a sucker for goat cheese and mushrooms. I brought my brother there and he loved it to. The atmosphere is cool, food is awesome and wine selection is good. I highly recommend if you're in the area.

Had read good things about this place, and they are true. Love the squid lights! We had a friendly knowledgeable waiter, who was attentive, but not too. Need a little more chimmichuri sauce--no problem--within minutes of the request there it was. Want a larger water glass--shazam--there it was. We did the 12.5 Deal along with an appetizer of Grouper bites and a couple glasses of the house wine. We won't be ordering the Grouper bites again, the order got lost in bottom of the serving container. However, the rest of the meal was delightful. Beloved had the lobster bisque, I had the house salad--both were good and the right portion. I had the Fillet K-Bob, beloved had the Grouper K-Bob. Yummo! We especially enjoyed the crispy top on the Mac & Cheese. The real surprise was the small dessert. My beloved hadn't ordered anything, but somehow wound up with the apple crisp. This is something he would never, ever order. He had a little taste and then proceeded to almost lick the bowl clean. Almost because along with the apple crisp there was a little scoop of vanilla ice cream (a good thing) and a Little scoop of frozen whipped topping (a bad thing). If this topping had been whipped cream--he probably would have worn the bowl on his head. I gave this visit four stars because we did have a problem using the website. When beloved tried to enter a reservation, his computer was attacked by a virus. He caught the virus and called the restaurant to tell them about it. He tried going on line the next day--virus was still lurking. While at the restaurant, we asked to talk to the manager. The manager was told about the virus and he promised to talk to the owner. A little while later, the manager returned and said he had talked to the owner (by phone) and the web guru was going to fix the problem. A second problem was the ladies washroom. Lovely facility--but the stall doors did not want to lock. Not a good thing. Other than the virus and the stall doors, we had a lovely visit and will definitely be going back!

Wow. What a find. I will be dining here regularly. It is in a cluster of 3 good restaurants - Marlin, Bonefish and E&E. Marlin is the bet bet, they have nightly grey goose specials ($5) and $12.5 three course dinner options. Great ahi tuna & flat breads. It is a place for business folks and locals, it is not as good as Salt Rock Grill, but certainly less expensive. This place is a fav from Clearwater down to St. Pete Beach..

Ate here a few times this past month and i dont know if id be back for anything but drinks and apps. Although the menu is good value , the food leaves something to be desired. Much better food around the corner at E&E stakeout grille.

Outstanding, the Hog Fish, Soft Shell Crab are not only great but the price is low. I wish it was right around the block it would be my regular Friday night hangout.

I now have racked up more than 1200 reviews on yelp and Marlin Darlin has the distinction of having the worst service I've ever had. The place was beautiful and apparently they have good food so it's too bad I had such a horrible experience here. I arrived alone on a Thursday evening and was told it would be about 5-10minutes for a table and that they'd come and find me when a table was ready. Cut to 20 minutes later when one of the hostesses came outside to seat another couple who arrived after me and was surprised to see me there and apologized that she had forgotten about me and that she'd find me a table right away. After I was seated I waited an unusually long time to be greeted by anyone, or even given water. When a waitress did acknowledge me and asked if I wanted something to drink (while she was rushing by holding some empty wine glasses) I told her just water would be fine but I had some questions about the menu. She answered a couple of my questions and then cut me off and said she'd be right back with my water. After an inappropriate about of time passed by the hostess came by with water only to be followed by the waitress several minutes later with water, surprised someone had already brought me some. She then took my order (I ordered the grouper meal which came with either lobster bisque or salad, I asked for the bisque). Again, a number of minutes went by and I was wondering where this soup was. Finally my waitress came back, empty handed, and told me she couldn't read her own writing and asked if I had said soup or salad. Eventually she did come back, again several minutes later, with the soup and a giant serving spoon nearly the size of the little bowl the soup came in and she apologized for the giant spoon saying they were out of regular sized spoons. Enough was enough, after she walked away I didn't as much as taste the bisque, I just stood up and walked out as there was no way I was giving them another chance to apologize for something else. (I'm only giving them that second star because the place was clean and they had the common decency to keep apologizing for their screw ups instead of being jerks about it)

Awesome food. It's always hot and fresh. Rec getting there earlier rather than later. This place can get packed and loud. I love picking this place over commercial joints any day. And with their deals, it is competitive with chain restaurants. Good 12.50 deal. Great app and drink deals in bar. It's a local favorite for a reason!!!!

I had a nice grouper dinner here. I had it Key West style (but with out tomatoes since I can't eat them) and it was very tasty and filling with a decent sized serving of grouper. The sauce had a bit of curry like tang. I can't imagine why anyone would go to Bonefish Grill in the strip mall next door.

An excellent restaurant. Very tasty appetizers, excellent main course and dessert. The staff was attentive and efficient in a fun atmosphere. One of the best meals I've had. #GUF11

Their '$12.50" menu is great for people who don't want huge portions and would rather not "share" and still have a good selection. Food is well prepared and professionally served. Great value.

I really love this place. It is very close to my house, and my husband and I go there pretty often. The atmosphere is great, giving you the feel of a beach town, but upper scale (don't worry, you can go there in jeans and a t-shirt, no collared shirt or dresses required). They have such a large selection of incredibly affordable dishes, that are great sizes and flavor. The just raised the price of those dishes by a dollar, but it is still totally worth it. $13.50 for a choice of about 10 different entrees that comes with your choice of soup or salad, and even a little mini dessert. My favorite is the apple crisp. We love the mussels there, we've gotten the snow crab and they were cooked perfectly, even had myself thinking I like snow crab better than lobster! I get the filet kabobs quite often because they are so good, but I really try to get something different every time and have been pleased with everything. They also serve you with fresh delicious buttered cuban bread while you wait for your soup/salad or entrees. They do get quite busy on a Friday or Saturday night, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan on going on one of those nights.

Service here left a little to be desired, but the food was fresh and tasty, with a large array of fish and seafood, and several cooking styles and sauces. My Mahi-Mahi crusted with plantains was very tasty, though the steamed veggies on the side could have used some herbs and a little less cook time. The lobster mac and cheese was delicious but I am in favor of more lobster to noodle ratio. The best part about Marlin Darlin Grill is their drink menu. As we notice the 2 for 1 deal for mojitos, sangria, well cocktails, and margaritas, my family believes that as long as we each order one of those drinks, we will receive four drinks for the price of two. Instead, we are each presented with two drinks each of our choice. 2 for 1! Of course! So we may have been a little buzzed by the time our entrees arrived, but you can't beat two drinks for 5.90.

Great contemporary seafood at reasonable prices. The food is fresh and the menu is refreshingly contemporary. Get there early at it fills up after 6:30 pm.

This restaurant is owned and operated by the same people behind the Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores ( yelp.com/biz/salt-rock-g… ) and the Island Way Grill in Clearwater Beach ( yelp.com/biz/island-way-… ), so if you're a fan of those two you'll be very happy here. The emphasis is on seafood, and the kitchen favors Asian spices. Yellowfin tuna carpaccio with capers, lemon, and wasabi oil and crab cake corndogs are perfect starters. My favorite entree is salmon roasted in a banana leaf with pineapple, cinnamon, and chili sauce. If you prefer something other than seafood, you'll probably like the steak with mushrooms and tandoori onions or sliced chicken breast with spinach, mozzarella cheese, asparagus, and grape tomatoes in a lemon- butter sauce. There's a pianist on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. They offer early bird specials from 4:00 - 5:45pm, happy hour from 4:00 - 7:00pm, and there's a special menu for children. The atmosphere is upscale but the dress is casual, although I'd leave the T-shirts and shorts at home.

Drink specials are great! 2 for 1 and $5 martinis hit the spot! Flat breads as an appetizer started the night off perfect! The $12.50 meal deal is an excellent choice and the portions are ideal. Go there and try this place even if the name is a bit cheesy....

Visited in April 2011 for my boyfriends birthday with two of our friends. We sat outside and it was a beautiful evening even though your view is of the parking lot. For appetizers we had the soft shell crabs(best we have had in a long time) and Rock Shrimp Tempura (very light and tasty). For dinner we had the Grouper Key West style, Mahi Mahi Piccata, Surf & Turf and the crab, shrimp and muscle pasta. Everything was perfectly cooked and our plates were licked clean. This is a great place if you are looking for something with a little more upscale vibe while still not feeling to corporate. We will definitely be back :)

OK Folks...your here on vacation and/or you lie here and want to try a decent seafood/steak place....head over to Marlin Darlin Grill. This is the place to take a date, meet friends, go with a group or just sit at the bar and eat. The prices and portions are just what your wallet and palate ordered. This is a very trendy, cool busy, noisy joint. The bar menu couldn't be better and they have some great drink specials, the food menu covers the spectrum from seafood to meats. The prices are very reasonable (for such a trendy spot), the portions are filling (don't expect to take a doggie bag home) and the flavors are wonderful. Our table had nice/wine, great/vodka martinis, filet mignon was a perfect selection of beef & well cooked, the K-Bobs were size able and my tuna was fresh and cooked perfect w/a very flavorful sauce. the salads were crisp & fresh and the starches were nice. Desert was delicious (mounds jar & apple crisp). If you want a nice dinner out in the upscale (!) Bellair Bluffs then head over to Marlin Darlin...you going to love it. Prices are right!

Not sure what has happened to Marvin Darlins, we frequent this establishment and have always been pleased, however, when we arrive the hostess greets us, escorts us to our seats walking in front of us drops the menus on a table says NOTHING and keeps on walking to the back of the place. Our server takes 15 minutes to arrive and was nothing short of rude and obnoxious, my girlfriend orders wine I order a soda. We order our meals which both come with a soda. When I ask for one for my girl she huffs away brings it back and slams in on the table next to mine. I move it to my girl. The remainder of the evening all I hear are sarcastic remarks about my damn soda. On to the poorest attempt at coconut shrimp I have ever experienced. It was over breaded and tasted like mush. The lobster Mac was ok as was the bisque. Management needs to give KAREN her walking papers.

My last dinner in St Pete's before heading home, drove out to Clearwater Beach and back on W Bay Dr. Notice another Bonefish grill but don't want to try another BFG. Yelp on iPhone directed me to Marlin Darlin, with 4 stars, it's a risk I will take. The place looks quite nice with some colorful jello cuttle fish lamp and large marlin on the wall. TV running sports fishing continuously and the bar area are spacious. Menu are quite extensive. I ordered lobster bisque and grouper New Orlean style with blue crab meats. Both dishes are very tasty. Should have gone here much sooner. The food is of very high quality in par with Salt Rock Grill and less expensive.

We went to Marlin Darlin for the 1st time last night for our anniversary. Even though we live practically right around the corner, we had never been there, so we decided it was time. I looked at their menu on their website and saw the $10 Deals they have. Unbelievable 3 course meals (starter, entree, & desert) for $10 each. They also have $2 drink specials from 4-6, $3 drink specials from 6-9, and 2 for 1 drink specials all night. We get there and it's packed. The parking lot is very small. We find a spot near the entrance, that really isn't a parking spot at all - and hope for the best. The hostess tells us we have a 20 minute wait to be seated, and then asks us "Is that alright with you?", we agreed to stay & wait. It was standing room only in there, so we went out on the patio and sat at a table there. Ashley took our drink order after explaining some of the drinks & specials to us. We had the 2 for 1 Rum Punch. The bartender was very generous with the rum! Wow yummy. It started to rain, and even though the patio is covered - when it's raining sideways, a roof doesn't help much. We only had to wait a few minutes once back inside to be seated at a cozy booth. Coolest thing ever - their hanging Squid lamps!! Clever!! Our waiter was Joe... he brought us some water in a wine bottle, which he left on the table, and a basket of warm pressed cuban bread drizzled with garlic butter. I ordered the lobster bisque; shrimp, mussels, & crab in lobster cream sauce over penne, & the sweet potato beignets. Willie ordered the citrus Caesar salad, filet mignon kabobs over island rice with lobster mac & cheese, and the spiced rum cake. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! Like really really delicious! I was very happy with the service, quality of the food, and taste. We will definitely be going back.

I loved this place so much! I ordered filet mignon kabobs that were perfectly cooked and came out on an amazing bed of black beans and garlic/butter based rice. It also came with lobster mac and cheese which was amazing! (I ate everyone else's at the table if they didn't want theirs.) It also came with a salad that had an amazing key lime vinaigrette. It also came with an apple crisp desert. However, I have an allergy to walnuts and they did not alert me that there were nuts until I took a bite. (Due to so many people having nut allergies, I don't understand why a warning is not in the menu) Thankfully I had my benadryl with me. I recieved all of this amazing food fo $12.50. Not sure I could find that quality of food for that price anywhere!! The waitress was also very nice, patient and helpful. We were a table of 14 people and she never seemed frustrated, overwhelmed, or impatient. Thanks for an amazing experience! If I come back into town, I will definitely eat there again!!

I've been here several times, and for the most part the food is decent and the prices as well. Cute atmosphere. Most recently I decided this would be a good place to have my rehearsal dinner. I came in, spoke with the manager and made all of the proper arrangements. These guys completely dropped the ball. It was pretty humiliating in front of my out of town guests. We were a party of 10 and it took us well over 3 hours for dinner. Clearly the server and managers are in over their heads. They made a slight attempt to amend the situation by comping the apps but only after I came down on the manager and shamed him. I don't think I will ever go back.

First we ordered an appetizer of the french onion soup dumplings. They were unusual but incredibly tasty, and tasted just like the soup. When we ordered the main course we decided on trying out the Meal Deal for $12.50 and we were not disappointed. We both started out with the lobster bisque. It was tasty and creamy, not the best I've had, but still prety goood. For entrees I ordered the crab, shrimp and mussells with penne in a rich creamy sauce...soo scrumptious! My companion got the catch of the day (can't remember what that was) on a kebab with lobster mac n' cheese. He liked the kebab but thought the lobster mac n' cheese was just OK. For dessert I ended up getting the Island rum cake which was really tasty. My companion decided on the hot apple crisp after the waitress highly recommended it. He seemed to enjoy it. All in all a great deal and good food. Would definitely come back here when I'm in the area.

Great experience with great service and delicious meals. Steve our server was fun and very attentive. The $5 Grey Goose martini named the usual suspect was great with the Maytag blue cheese stuffed olives. My wife and daughter had the tuna and it was perfect. I had the all you can eat sea bass key west style. (one plate after appetizers was plenty, but he brought us another small plate for the others to try). My son had the reef and beef of filet and shrimp served k-bob style. The presentation was cool and my son who can be picky....loved it! Our total bill for 4 people was $96 plus tip with 2 appetizers and 4 martinis. I was pleased for that type of meal with fresh fish and quality service. 100% do it again. And if you have kids, ask for Steve. He was great!

Although the blackboard specials were tempting, the steak kebob with chimichurri, teryaki shrimp and black beans I eventually chose was really, REALLY great. Great service, posh atmosphere. Sat in a booth right next to the pass which was fun. Sweet potato beignets with vanilla ice cream was perfect.

I am astounded that the owners of this very beautiful restaurant would not have properly trained staff commensurate with the appearance of this restaurant. We (party of 8) came on a weekend night. We had reservations and promptly seated. This was the only thing that was done on time. I noticed the restaurant was busy and asked the server if there would be a long wait time for cocktails. She assured me that there was a service bar that poured specifically for the dining room. Our party ordered cocktails and we waited at least twenty minutes for the first round. The party then immediately ordered a 2d round. Well this took longer. It seemed the more drinks we ordered the longer they took. We were not a demanding party, but expected our drinks in a reasonable amount of time. Twenty minutes for four draft beers, two bottle beers, a shot of Tequila and Whiskey with coke should not take that long. After a few rounds of this we ordered appetizers and entrees. I ordered dozen oysters which were good but had no meat to them. Not worth the $10. I understand they were out of season so why put them on the menu? My entrée was the Sea Bass for $20 very tasty which made up for the oysters and lack of service. Again there was noticeable lack of service as our party needed service and our server was nowhere to be found. For me, the food was great but the lack of service will keep me (and members of our party) from coming back again. I do not blame the server. I blame the owners and management of this restaurant who allowed this server to be out on the floor without being properly trained.

My group visited the restaurant on a busy Friday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a reservation ,but still waited twenty minutes for a table. Once seated the waited came to greet us. He was not rude, just unfriendly. He could be heard whispering negative comments as he walked to and from the tables. Once we ordered the food it arrived in a timely manner. The entire group agreed the food was outstanding. We were never asked if we wanted desert, our check was just placed on the table. Unfortunately, two of the dinner specials ordered included desert. The waiter stomped away and returned with a desert menu. We ate our deserts and left the establishment. This is a beautiful restaurant and serves outstanding food at a good value. It is sad that the primary take away of my group was the bad service. This restaurant puts much effort in order to serve and outstanding product. It is sad that all this effort is wasted due to the poor attitude of an apparently unhappy employee. I will give this restaurant another try in the future.
